East London Design Show.. What a roaring success!

Thanks to everyone who came to the East London Design Show over the weekend. What a great show that turned out to be!

The Limited Edition range 'Publand' was a huge success with all but two selling out!
BLIND BEGGAR Small - SOLD OUT*
COMMERICAL TAVERN Medium - SOLD OUT*

Both brooch ranges, All Washed Up! and Whats Up Dollface also proved popular...

I'll soon be selling via my website www.missannabeldee.co.uk so keep checking back with that. So, in the pipeline will be the Second Edition Publand collection, which will feature the same pubs, The Blind Beggar, Commercial Tavern, and The Golden Heart but all in various sizes.. (the limited editions were one pub in one size..) Look out for new illustrations of markets, streets and alleyways...

REMEMBER I DO PRIVATE COMMISSIONS, so if you have a particular place you wish to have featured, dont hesitate to contact me!

Slugs, Snails & Puppy dog Tails...

NEW RANGE*

Slugs, Snails and Puppy dog Tails. The range focuses on a humorous narrative to childhood and the ever debated question of children growing up too quickly, with titles poking fun of social taboos - such as "Fancy a Quickie" and "Wives and Girlfriends"

Each piece is available to buy. If more than one vessel is required, each one WILL be different - obviously the same images etc, but due to the nature of the glazes etc each one will be slightly different!

Spent the weekend driving back and forth to Earls Court, London setting up my stand on the CSM Selected part of Launch Pad @ Pulse

One of the hottest weekends of the year so far and we're inside painting! Ah well, it's worth the hassle. Much love to Danny who gave up his weekend to help me/do everything!

Just some snaps from the setting up of the show, and then the final stand and work! HURRAH

All Washed Up!

All Washed Up! is a brooch range I am launching this weekend at Pulse.
The boy and I took advantage of this be-aut-iful weather here in Southend, and took them 'on location' for a impromptu photoshoot at East Beach!

Here's a sneak peek of the photos, more to come after this weekend's launch!

NEXT SHOW: Pulse, Earls Court 2010

PRESS RELEASE FOR PULSE, EARLS COURT, 6-8th JUNE

Annabel Johnson is launching a new range of vessels at Pulse this summer entitled - Slugs, Snails & Puppy dog Tails.

The new range focuses on a humorous narrative to childhood and the ever debated question of growing up too quickly.

Two new brooch ranges are also being launched - All Washed Up! -a limited edition range made from pottery found on the shores of Anglesey, and What’s Up Dollface? - each unique dollface conjouring nostaligic thoughts.

A graduate of Central Saint Martin’s, Annabel’s work features a range of creative mediums combining surface, graphic design and photography with traditional ceramic qualities such as relief and own recipe glazes to produce unique and thought provoking items, which will help people remember places, people, memories and eras which are now long gone - all in a tongue in cheek kind of way.

Annabel is also showing her degree show collection ”The Chewing Gum Floors’ - a collection which caught the eye of Janice Blackburn, and was featured in her exhibition ‘small show Huge Talent’ at Sotheby’s last summer. The collections narrative uncovers her family’s memories of life in the pubs and clubs of the East End of London in the 1960s.

Having been dubbed ‘the next Grayson Perry’ Annabel’s work is not something to be missed!

new yoik new yoik

Some snaps took roaming round the big apple... I liked it much more than London - praps one day ill de-camp there!.. just have to wait and see!...

Tectonic Plates Exhibition : NYC ii

I took some photos of the rest of the exhibition. It really was awesome! (haha obviously spent to long in the US, starting to use the lingo!). After speaking to Paul of the New English about the response to the exhibition - it seemed very promising! Some nice little snippets of info and leads - all which sounded brilliant if they all came off!.. Piers Wedgwood walked into the room just as I was leaving...

Surprisingly, as I was browsing the catalogue, I can across some designs by a fellow CSM Ceramic Design graduate - Julie Spurgeon! (she graduated the year before me!) I didnt even know she had anything to do with it! Unfortunately, I had already left the exhibition so I couldnt look at her designs in detail, but they weer very good designs, hand drawn bumblebees and flies..
